The island of Föhr

In contrast to Sylt, Föhr is a very green island. Besides the town of Wyk, 16 small villages nestle into its 82 square metres of rolling meadows, fields and woodland

Ausflugsziel Föhr

Attractions include four windmills, three historic churches, the “Vogelkoje” (wild duck trap) in Boldixum and several well-preserved megalithic graves. The cemetery at Nieblum has some striking whalers’ tombstones that are well worth a look.

The island’s cultural jewel is the Museum of West Coast Art in Alkersum. The modern building houses paintings by major Scandinavian, Dutch and German artists on maritime and coastal themes. The collection includes works by Max Beckmann, Edvard Munch and Emil Nolde amongst others. For more information visit
