For the last four years the Schleswig Holstein Football Association has crowned its regional beach soccer champions after an open tournament series played in different locations over several weekends. The success of the tournament on Sylt last year means the island will again play host to the Flens Beach Trophy on 18th and 19th July. On both days up to eight teams compete on Hörnum beach for prize money of 150 Euros per day, non-cash prizes, the Flens Top Scorer Trophy and points towards qualification for the regional final in early August.
The qualifying rounds are spread across five locations in the North Sea and the Baltic, and the undeniable pull for competitors is the pleasure and excitement of playing on sand. Up to eight teams can compete per day and per round. If the list is not full on match day, teams can apply to take part there and then.
